About Us

Hi, I’m Diane and this is my daughter Mariya.  We took this picture when we were in Paris last fall.  This was at the Louvre.  We have always spent a lot of time together and have enjoyed each others company as you can see from our picture.  I had thought about starting a food blog not for the writing part so much but rather to chronicle my recipes as I tend to modify every recipe I try and I also consider myself a daring baker, in other words I don’t measure.  Friends and family are usually asking for my recipes and it seemed like this was the easiest way for me to do it.  I mentioned it to Mariya and she was all for my starting a blog.  Then when she came up with an idea for cupcakes she wanted to join me in the blog.  Mainly this will be my recipes and she will interject here and there.

I have always loved to cook and derive great pleasure from not only preparing the meal but sharing with freinds and family! I have actually been cooking and baking since  I was young.   I was a rather picky eater and my mom really did not care to cook so I decided to learn how to cook.  My mother really enjoyed my wanting to cook and I enjoyed the freedom she gave me to be creative.  I grew up thinking tacos and lasagna were specialty items only made in restaurants.  I found out differently!

As much as I enjoy to cook I also enjoy eating!  I have become  more inspired with food over the past few years upon our travels. The foods in France and Spain are just phenomenally good and I can’t stop thinking about it! For some reason the food quality abroad is soooo much better than ours.  It’s a pure pleasure to eat such good food and I have become more determined to be able to create such treats.  My food preferences are varied but mainly I love italian, mexican, french, spanish, asian and some mid eastern fare. 

Currently I have a full-time job, a part-time job as supervisor at World Market, we breed Shih Tzus and Chinese Imperial dogs and now preparing for Mariya’s wedding which I plan on doing the cooking and baking myself.  We have decided to start experimenting now and perfecting our technique and then select the recipes we will make.  We are also attending classes on cake decorating and design to learn more.   Needless to say I am a very busy person.  Some days I wonder why I do all this but it keeps me busy and mainly I enjoy it. 

So in the meantime enjoy while we work our way thru many recipes and good eats in the coming year 🙂
